Multimedia Tools Assignment #1 – Ed Tech 561

For my first multimedia tools assignment I decided to use a tutorial to create a javascript slideshow that could be embedded in the front page of a Moodle site.  This is something I am currently working on for a client and it’s something that can really snaz up a Moodle home page so it’s a perfect match for this assignment.

I started off with a tutorial for a basic slideshow and that worked but I was hoping for something that looked a little nicer and had smoother transitions so I ended up completing several different tutorials in an attempt to find the “perfect” slideshow code.  Below you will find links to my first attempt at a basic slideshow as well as a nicer slideshow and links to both of the tutorials used to create the slideshows.

I’m glad I chose a javascript slideshow as the topic for this assignment because it’s something that I am sure I will be using often.  Javascript is a great way to present slides on a Moodle site because you don’t run into problems with Flash, it loads quickly, and it’s easy once you configure Moodle correctly and get the code right.

Slideshows: Excuse the dust, both of these sites are under construction.
