High level content outline, treatment, and technology description for the Ed Tech 561 educational video project.
Outline:
Introduction:
The introduction will catch the viewers attention and express the importance of registering for organ donation with a recording of Natasha Deegan reading the paragraphs below.
When you apply or renew your driver’s license you are asked if you want to be an organ donor and if you choose yes, you get a pink dot on your license. It’s hard to understand the true significance of that pink dot until someone you know receives a lifesaving organ transplant. In January 2011, I was hours away from death on life support in ICU. I had gotten sick with Hepatitis A from eating contaminated food and went into full liver failure. My life was saved with a liver transplant because my donor said yes to the pink dot.
I was one of the lucky ones, 33% of people waiting for an organ transplant die and currently over 100,000 people are waiting. If you are not registered as donor, please consider registering as one. If you are registered, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your organ donation could save the lives of 8 people, and your tissue donation can enhance the lives of another 50 people. Donation is supported by all major religions, does not affect funeral traditions, and will not affect medical care received during an emergency.
Registering is easy, fill out the online form to register to be an organ, eye and tissue donor and provide hope to those who wait at www.donatelife.net.
How to Register:
After the introduction, the video will transition into a screen recording of how to complete the registration process.
- Camtasia screen recording demonstrating process
- Brief text captions explaining what to do.
Conclusion:
- Concise statement promoting registration.
- URL to register
- Donate Life logo
Treatment:
The video will begin with a recording of Natasha Deegan explaining the importance of organ registration then transition into a screen recording. The recording of Natasha will be a close up shot to portray the emotional aspect. Graphics available within Adobe Premier will be used for captions.
The color scheme and typeface of the video will be designed to match the blue and green color scheme of the blog New Liver, New Life where it will be posted. It will also be branded with the logo for the organization Donate Life, pending approval. Blue and green is the color scheme for both the New Liver, New Life blog and Donate Life making it the ideal choice for this video.
After grabbing the viewers attention with the statistics, the video will transition into a screen recording demonstrating the process of registering online. Using Camtasia’s “Zoom and Pan” features along with captions will describe the process without the need for narration. The captions used in the screen recording will match the color scheme and font used in the statistical slides to keep it consistent. The music playing in the background will transition from a slow song into a more upbeat and positive song while the screen recording is playing.
The video will conclude by transitioning from the screen recording into a “call to action” to go to the Donate Life website and register with a short, concise statement and the url for the website in large font. If possible I would like to include a hyperlink to the site from the video so that people can just click on the link and be taken directly into the registration site.
Technology:
- Adobe Premier – The animated slides and screen recordings will be pieced together and edited using Adobe Premier or possibly MovieMaker depending on availability of Premier.
- Camtasia Studio – The screen casts covering the registration process will be created using Camtasia studio.
