For a little fun and as a part of the E-Learning Heroes Gate Screen challenge I decided to throw together a quick template to submit to the challenge. I call it the “Shark Tabs” template because of the shark theme and “Tabs” layout. I originally used a tabs template like this for a project that was used as a video based job aid. It was basically used as a video library, not a traditional e-learning course with a quiz because in my opinion you don’t always need an assessment. However, my client also wanted people to receive credit for watching a minimum number of videos and they did not want them to exit the tutorial until they accessed the minimum number of videos. To accomplish this I created a “gate screen” on a layer then created triggers with conditions so that the gate screen will appear if the learner attempts to exit before watching the videos. Try it out for yourself, see what happens to Snuffy if you exit the tutorial early.
